Service Description:
DASH offers a free and confidential service to drug users, families and friends. The service provides advice, information and a range of practical and therapeutic interventions that prevent and reduce drug related harm. These include long, short term and crisis counselling, assessment, community detoxification, substitute prescribing, GP liaison, young persons focussed work, needle exchange, acupuncture and drop-in. We provide consultation, training ,liaison and joint working for other services whose work brings them into contact with drug related issues.

Referrals:
DASH accepts referrals from any source including self referral, either by phone or letter or in person by drop-in on Thursday afternoons only.

Needle Exchange Schemes:
provide clean injecting equipment at the following times and locations :

DASH, 30 Commercial Rd Hereford
Monday: 10am -12noon & 2pm - 4.45pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 2pm - 4.45pm
Friday: 2pm - 4.15pm

Ross Community Hospital
Mon - Fri: 9am - 5pm

Leominster Community Hospital
Mon - Fri: 8am - 7.30pm
Sat - Sun: 8am - 3pm

Kington Cottage Hospital
Mon - Sun: 9am - 7pm


Acupuncture:
Clients can be referred by their drug worker to a fully qualified acupuncturist who works part time with the team.
Acupuncture is used to treat the whole person to recover the equilibrium between a persons physical, emotional and spiritual aspects. It can help people suffering with Hepatitis C and HIV and can be helpful in overcoming addiction.

GP Liaison:
A GP liason worker works closely with GPs in the county to improve the access of drug users to GP services and prescribing.

Disability Access:
Ground floor of 30 Commercial Rd accessible to people in wheel chairs.

Waiting Times:
DASH can offer rapid assessment and support (within two weeks) to people with drug related problems. However there is a waiting time currently of up to two months for people needing a methadone prescription.

Outreach Services:
DASH also operates in South Wye and Leominster bringing the service to users. It offers individual advice and support, and risk reduction interventions such as clean injecting equipment and condoms to those who would not normally come in contact with services. Outreach also offers peer type education to encourage lower risk behaviour.The service comes in two forms, detached work, where workers go out into the users' own environment such as raves and homes, and institutional work, where the service works on site with other agencies such as health centres and schools.
There is an "Advice Shop" for friendly, condidential advice and support at the Community Hospital, Leominster 2pm - 5pm, Mondays. Drop in or phone 07974 724295 for further information.

Service Description:
Family Drug Support is a volunteer run organisation that provides confidential advice and support to families concerned about family members possible or actual drug use.
It aims to help families deal with the situation confidently and constructively.
It holds a Support Group for family members of drug users on Thursday evenings, every other month.
