MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION

Promoting good mental health is as important to society as treating mental illness. Sounds like common sense ?
For more information on what mental health promotion means and what is happening in Herefordshire click here.

One of mental health promotion's most important objectives is to reduce fear and misunderstanding about mental health issues;
because fear and misunderstanding can make mental ill health much worse than it needs to be.

Madness will always be an archetypal human nightmare so separating the nightmare from reality takes a conscious effort. That's what mental health promotion is - a systematic planned effort to change deeply ingrained misconceptions about all aspects of mental illness.

The reward for that effort is the real impact that an open minds can have on the lives of people with mental health problems. Open minds open doors.

With this in mind, herefordshirementalhealth.info plans to compile and publish real life accounts of Herefordshire peoples experiences of mental health issues. You can view the stories HERE.
If you have experienced mental health problems or been affected by somebody elses, we would like to hear your stories.
Please send your story ideally by email to webeditor@herefordshirementalhealth.info or by post to:
