OLDER PEOPLE

Mental Health services for Older people are provided in Herefordshire by Health and Social services working in partnership with a wide range of voluntary and independent service providers across the county. You will find details of all these organisations here.

All mental health services (including those for older people), provided by the Primary Care Trust and Social Services, are now integrated under a single management system to remove unhelpful organisational boundaries.

The mental health service for older people in Herefordshire aims to maximise the independence and quality of life of a growing number of older people by promoting mental and physical health, reducing the prevalence of treatable mental illness, and alleviating the detrimental impact of progressive mental illness on the lives of older people and their families and carers.

Services are planned in the light of Standard 7 of the National Service Framework (NSF) for Older People.
